RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the coaches and players of the Manchester High School Blue Devils basketball
team and inviting them to appear before the House of Representatives; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Manchester High School Blue Devils basketball team (29-3), propelled by a
shot from Jamarquis Steverson with seven seconds remaining, defeated Dodge
County 57-54 in the Class AA state championship game; and
WHEREAS,
the Blue Devils won their first state championship after narrow misses in 1992
and 2004; and
WHEREAS,
Manchester's coach, Curtis Noble, guided the team with a steady hand and made
sure that the team members worked hard every day; and
WHEREAS,
this group of outstanding athletes proved they were willing to do the hard work
and make the sacrifices necessary to become champions, and it is only fitting
that they receive the accolades they so richly deserve.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate the coaches and players of the Manchester High School
Blue Devils basketball team and invite them to appear before the House of
Representatives on a day and at a time designated by the Speaker of the House of
Representatives.
