RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the HoneyBaked Ham Company on 50 years in business; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
in 2007, the HoneyBaked Ham Company is celebrating 50 years in business;
and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia division of HoneyBaked Ham, headquartered in Norcross, is the
largest of the company's four divisions and employs more than 2,000 associates
in 220 stores in 27 states; and
WHEREAS,
HoneyBaked employees served 1,200 sweet turkey breasts and 1,000 hams to
homeless Atlantans at the Hosea Feeds the Hungry MLK Jr. Dinner at Turner Field;
and
WHEREAS,
each HoneyBaked Ham store partners with one to three local schools, working with
educators to discover ways that HoneyBaked can help improve education;
and
WHEREAS,
Harry J. Hoenselaar began a special family tradition when he opened his first
HoneyBaked Ham Company store in Michigan; and
WHEREAS,
HoneyBaked Ham uses the finest quality bone-in ham, cured in Mr. Hoenselaar's
secret marinade, and smoked for hours over a unique blend of hardwood chips,
delivering a delicious ham with a unique sweet honey glaze every time;
and
WHEREAS,
HoneyBaked Ham was one of the first to enter the meal-replacement category,
becoming a special family tradition during the holidays; and
WHEREAS,
three generations and over 400 stores later, the Hoenselaar family still
prepares the HoneyBaked Ham the same way that Mr. Hoenselaar did;
and
WHEREAS,
the children and grandchildren of the Hoenselaar family are committed to
carrying on the wonderful tradition and legacy of Harry J. Hoenselaar; and
WHEREAS,
it is only fitting that the people of Georgia join the Hoenselaar family and all
the employees of the HoneyBaked Ham Company in celebrating this momentous
occasion.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate the HoneyBaked Ham Company on 50 years of doing business
and send wishes for many more successful years to come.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the
HoneyBaked Ham Company.
