RESOLUTION
Expressing
regret at the passing of James Preston "Jimmy" Hight; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
James Preston "Jimmy" Hight, age 61, of Greensboro, Georgia, died on Friday,
February 16, 2007; and
WHEREAS,
he was born in Baldwin County on February 4, 1946, descending from one of
Georgia´s first families who arrived with Oglethorpe, founding the colony
of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Jimmy Hight was a graduate of Sparta High School and the University of Georgia
with a Bachelor of Science in English Education; and
WHEREAS,
he was a life-long educator in the State of Georgia, teaching at Newton High
School, Nathanael Greene Academy, and Thomas Jefferson Academy, and served in
the Georgia National Guard; and
WHEREAS,
he was the organist for the First Presbyterian Churches in Greensboro and Sparta
and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Greensboro;
and
WHEREAS,
during the course of his remarkable life, Jimmy Hight touched countless lives
with his generous and loving spirit; and
WHEREAS,
this beloved man exhibited extraordinary devotion to duty, outstanding loyalty,
fine leadership, and meticulous attention to detail in all his duties throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS,
he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS,
the passing of this generous and kind man leaves a void in the hearts and lives
of his family and friends.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body express their deepest and most sincere regret at the passing of James Preston "Jimmy" Hight.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
James Preston "Jimmy" Hight.
