RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the University of West Georgia Advocates Program; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the University of West Georgia (UWG) Advocates Program is a grass-roots effort
of friends and alumni of the University of West Georgia who work to raise
awareness about the university´s importance to the future of our state;
and
WHEREAS,
advocates of this amazing program serve as ambassadors within their communities,
advancing the university´s legislative agenda, including support for
capital projects, and raising awareness of the university´s
accomplishments; and
WHEREAS,
these advocates, united by an interest in improving UWG´s well-being,
cultivate positive relationships with their legislators and other community and
state leaders and help keep decision makers better informed about UWG and higher
education issues; and
WHEREAS,
whether they are sending emails to the Governor, making calls to their state
legislators, writing letters to their local newspapers, recruiting new
advocates, or supporting university sponsored events, these advocates are making
a difference for UWG and in the world around them.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in recognizing the University of West Georgia Advocates Program,
commending the advocates´ dedication to developing positive relationships
with Georgia legislators, and extending their sincerest best wishes to the
University of West Georgia for its continued growth and success.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mary W.
White, Coordinator of Advancement Programs of the University of West Georgia.
