RESOLUTION
Commending
the Clayton County 2006-2007 STAR students and STAR teachers; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Clayton County high schools have selected their 2006-2007 STAR (Student Teacher
Achievement Recognition) students, and each STAR student, in turn, has named a
STAR teacher in recognition of the impact that teacher has had on their academic
success; and
WHEREAS,
the students and teachers recognized for their outstanding accomplishments
include: Leonard Ashu and teacher Sam Pennypacker, Morrow High; Kyle Skinner and
teacher Kathy Saucier, Jonesboro High; Alma Castaneda and teacher James Holmes,
Mt. Zion High; and Stephanie Carrin and teacher Sandra Fingall, Mt. Zion
Christian Academy; and
WHEREAS,
to be selected as a STAR student, a high school student must have obtained the
highest score in one administration of the new three-part Scholastic Aptitude
Test (SAT) taken through the November test date of his or her senior year and be
in the top 10 percent or top ten students of his or her class; and
WHEREAS,
it is fitting and proper to recognize appropriately the accomplishments and
achievements of these remarkable young men and women and their
teachers.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Clayton County STAR students and their STAR teachers and
express to them their sincerest best wishes for continued success in the
future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Clayton
County Board of Education.
