A RESOLUTION


Honoring and commending Bishop Paul Sylvester Morton, Sr. for his 32 years of pastoring and his 40 years of ministering; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Bishop Paul Sylvester Morton, Sr. was installed as pastor of Greater St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church of New Orleans, Louisiana in 1975, just 25 years after his birth; and

WHEREAS, under his direction, the ministry grew from 647 members to over 20,000 members, and Greater St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church now has three church locations, offers eight worship services per week, provides affordable housing for over 125 families at St. Stephen City and at St. Stephen Manor, and has an office building for its corporate headquarters; and

WHEREAS, Bishop Morton answered another call to begin Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, a movement to lead and teach the people of God, particularly Baptist people, how to operate in the fullness of the Holy Spirit, yet remain on the same foundation which is Jesus Christ; and

WHEREAS, under the leadership of this great visionary, many thousands of people have been blessed, encouraged, inspired, and delivered through the establishment of five different ministries in Louisiana that are changing people's lives and bringing them closer to God; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his world-wide evangelistic ministry and pastorship of Greater St. Stephen, Bishop Morton continues to spread the word of God through the Changing A Generation daily radio and weekly television broadcasts which air in several markets nationwide; and

WHEREAS, he has authored several books, including Why Kingdoms Fall, It's Time for the Outpouring, and What is the Full Gospel Baptist Church?, which have inspired people looking to strengthen their relationship with God; and

WHEREAS, in addition to being a dynamic preacher, most proficient teacher, and recognized author, Bishop Morton is a world-renowned singer, having released his nationally recognized solo album entitled Crescent City Fire in addition to his five albums with the Greater St. Stephen Mass Choir, and two recordings with the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship Mass Choir.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body honor and commend Bishop Paul Sylvester Morton, Sr., a dynamic man of God, for 32 years of pastoring and 40 years of ministering, his many contributions to mankind, and all the good he is doing for this world.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Bishop Paul Sylvester Morton, Sr.
