A RESOLUTION


Commending the 2006-2007 Collins Hill High School Eagles girls basketball team and inviting them to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, through perseverance and iron determination, the Collins Hill High School Eagles girls basketball team has completed another spectacular season, earning recognition as the number one team in the nation by USA Today and posting a perfect 31-0 record; and

WHEREAS, the Eagles soared through the state playoffs and, as a fitting finale to their remarkable 2007 campaign, captured their third consecutive state title at the Class AAAAA State Championship with an aggressive 61-37 win over South Gwinnett; and

WHEREAS, the 2006-2007 Collins Hill High School Eagles girls basketball team was composed of the following outstanding athletes: MacKenzie Dalrymple, Katie Fidler, Brittni Maston, Joy McCuen, Lauren Pace, Jazmine Walker, Kameelah Wynn, Carmen Fowler, Nikki Urbizo, Shakeda Richie, Maya Moore, Jordan Jones, and Taylor Dalrymple; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach Tracey Tipton and Coaches Scott Wild, Paula Skinner, Jessica Sedor, Warren Southerland, and Jay Nebel; and

WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by performing with courage and precision over months of pain and hard work, it is just and proper to call them champions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Collins Hill High School Eagles girls basketball team for its unparalleled achievements and extend their sincerest best wishes for continued success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the players and coaches of the Collins Hill High School Eagles girls basketball team are hereby invited to appear before the House of Representatives at a date and time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
