RESOLUTION
Commending
Danny Carpenter; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Danny Carpenter is widely recognized throughout the state as the personification
of excellence in education; and
WHEREAS,
this highly respected professional educator and administrator has served with
honor and distinction as teacher, coach, athletic director, principal, program
director, and operations executive director for the past 34 years, and since
2003 has also served as superintendent of the board of education of Houston
County; and
WHEREAS,
he believes that his continuing role as school superintendent is to act as an
instrument of inspiration and enthusiasm to his pupils and to create a positive
learning environment through the encouragement of competitive instincts in
students; and
WHEREAS,
he has announced his retirement on June 30, 2007; and
WHEREAS,
he is a shining example of the important impact that the efforts of individual
education professionals and school superintendents are making on the quality of
education received by the children of this state and it is abundantly fitting
and proper that his superlative accomplishments be recognized
appropriately.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body heartily and gratefully commend Danny Carpenter for his over three
decades of sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of
education in Georgia and for the positive influence he has had upon the lives
and futures of countless young people in this state; congratulate him upon the
occasion of his retirement; and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for
health and happiness in the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Danny
Carpenter.
