A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Celebrate Life International and the Teach One to Lead One program; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Celebrate Life International (CLI) is an innovative nonprofit organization that has had an amazing impact on at-risk youth throughout the nation using a unique curriculum of relationship based learning strategies; and

WHEREAS, CLI was founded in 1996 by its current president and CEO, Dr. Lori Salierno, in Kennesaw, Georgia, and the organization now has its headquarters in Acworth, Georgia, with branch offices in Madera, California; Bossier City Louisiana; and Lake City, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, CLI is an organization dedicated to transforming youth into responsible citizens, equipping them with practical leadership skills and providing educational programs, materials, and helpful personnel to encourage young people to build lives of integrity; and

WHEREAS, the Teach One to Lead One program, one of CLI's primary initiatives, was born out of the need to help young people turn away from destructive choices and develop positive habits that will help them grow into responsible citizens; and

WHEREAS, Teach One to Lead One offers a multifaceted curriculum specifically designed for middle and high school students, integrating with dynamic program sessions, weekly consultation with adult mentors, community service activities, group role playing, motivational games, multimedia experiences, and large and small group discussions that encourage teens to investigate issues pertaining to ethics and leadership; and

WHEREAS, CLI organizes thousands of volunteers, community leaders, religious leaders, parents, and educators to provide a meeting ground for schools to work together with the community; and
WHEREAS, CLI's after-school programming helps keep students off the street and out of trouble, reducing their probability of becoming involved in violence, drug and alcohol use, cheating, and dropping out of school; and

WHEREAS, in 2006, the organization coordinated over 3,600 volunteer hours in addition to tens of thousands of paid staff hours to reach thousands of troubled youth across the United States.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in recognizing Celebrate Life International for its tireless devotion to the youth of America, commending its Teach One to Lead One program for its innovative approach to learning, and extending their sincerest best wishes for the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Celebrate Life International.
