RESOLUTION
Congratulating
Primis T. James upon his coronation as the 5th Deputy of the Orient of Georgia;
and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Primis T. James was born October 10, 1957, in Kingstree, South Carolina, where
he received his early education and graduated from Benedict College; and
WHEREAS,
he became a Mason in 1980 and moved to Atlanta in 1981; and
WHEREAS,
he is a Past Master of W.C. Thomas Lodge #112 of Atlanta, Georgia, and is often
called upon to mentor or lend support to the younger brothers; he is also a
member of Ruth Chapter #102, the Order of the Eastern Star; and
WHEREAS,
Primis T. James is Past Commander in Chief of the Atlanta Consistory #24 and
Past Venerable Commander; and
WHEREAS,
he received his 33rd Degree in Washington, D.C., in October, 1997; and
WHEREAS,
he joined Nabbar Temple in 1988 and served as Potentate in 2004, and he is a
charter member of the motor unit; and
WHEREAS,
the Sovereign Grand Commander Deary Vaughn appointed Primis T. James as
Overseer of the Works of Georgia in March, 2006, and on October 8, 2006, he was
coroneted as Deputy of the Orient of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Council of Deliberation was organized July 28, 1953 in Macon,
Georgia, with Grand Master John W. Dobbs as its first Deputy of the Orient, and
it is a charitable organization now entering its 54th year of awarding
scholarships and serving the community; and
WHEREAS,
Primis T. James's community activities include working with the Sickle Cell
Foundation in Camp Hope Program, the Atlanta Food Bank, Hands On Atlanta, and
the Helping Hands Foundation; and
WHEREAS,
he has received numerous awards over the years, including: Mason of the Year for
1989; an Award for Dedication and Commitment to W.C. Thomas Lodge in 1997; the
Golden Link Volunteer Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Community
Service by the Atlanta
Journal-Constitution in 1997; the Award
for Dedication and Contributions to Prince Hall Masonry by then Grand Master
Benjamin Barksdale in 1998; a Certificate of Merit from the United Supreme
Council in 1997; the Distinguished Services and Personal Contributions Award
from the Atlanta Consistory; the Award for Distinguished and Dedicated Services
to Nabbar Temple for several years; the Legion of Honor in 1995; and the Noble
and Officer of the Year in 1997; and
WHEREAS,
he is a member of the Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church in Jonesboro,
Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he is a devoted family man and is married to Brenda B. James, and they have two
children and four grandchildren.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate Primis T. James on his outstanding service to his
community and his state and congratulate him on his coronation as the 5th Deputy
of the Orient of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Primis T.
James.
