A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and congratulating Jane Cardin Wyatt for receiving the 2006-2007 Citizen of Excellence Award from the Cedartown Civic Arts Commission; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Jane Cardin Wyatt was named the first female honoree of the Citizen of Excellence Award by the Cedartown Civic Arts Commission; and

WHEREAS, born in Tifton, Georgia, Jane moved to Cedartown in 1963 to work as a home economist with the Georgia Power Company; and

WHEREAS, after her marriage to Harold W. Wyatt, Jr., Jane pursued her professional interest in real estate and opened her own company, Jane Wyatt Realty, which she operated for 20 years; and

WHEREAS, she served as a member of the Greater Rome Board of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors, and the Georgia Association of Realtors, where she served as state district vice president and state chair of community services; and

WHEREAS, she was honored as Rome's Realtor Associate of the Year in 1983 and Realtor of the Year in 1985 and was admitted to the Greater Rome Board of Realtors Hall of Fame in 2002, the same year that the success of Jane Wyatt Realty led to its merger with Hardy Realty of Rome; and

WHEREAS, Jane has contributed vastly to the advancement of the arts in Cedartown, serving as president of the Junior Service League of Cedartown and chairman of the Cedartown Arts Commission, where she has participated as a member for over 20 years; and

WHEREAS, she was the first president of the Polk County Chamber of Commerce and was instrumental in merging the Cedartown and Rockmart chambers; and

WHEREAS, Jane is a founding member of the Cedartown Parks Commission and has served as its volunteer chairman since 1998, and she has contributed significantly to the preservation and reclamation of Georgia's parks and green spaces; and

WHEREAS, Jane and Harold are members of the First United Methodist Church of Cedartown, where Jane served as chairman of the administrative council, chair of long-range planning, chairman of the finance committee, and president of the United Methodist Women; and

WHEREAS, Jane is the proud mother of two, Cardin Wyatt Bradley and Harold Wyatt IV, and the doting grandmother of six; and

WHEREAS, as her capable leadership and tireless devotion have commanded the esteem of her fellow Georgians, it is fitting and proper that we commend her on this occasion.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize the phenomenal career of Jane Cardin Wyatt, commend her for her extensive contributions to the cultural livelihood of the Cedartown community, and congratulate her for receiving the 2006-2007 Citizen of Excellence Award from the Cedartown Civic Arts Commission.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Jane Cardin Wyatt.
