RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Ms. Joan K. Turner; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ms. Joan K. Turner is a registered nurse, a loving mother, and a dynamic
community leader of the health services in Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Turner, executive director for Pathways Center for Behavioral and
Developmental Growth, has over 300 wonderful employees, but she has always held
the firm belief that the success of the organization rests with each individual
employee including herself; and
WHEREAS,
Pathways Center for Behavioral and Developmental Growth provides Georgians with
a number of essential mental health services for adults, including community
based rehabilitation, case management, crisis intervention, and outpatient
treatment, as well as substance abuse services for children and adults and
developmental disability services, crisis stabilization, and emergency receiving
services for adults; and
WHEREAS,
Pathways is a large company with a human face providing thorough and friendly
service to 7,500 residents in ten counties and operating a 12 bed crisis
stabilization and emergency receiving unit for mental health and substance abuse
cases around the clock, seven days a week; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Turner was employed as a registered nurse at Roosevelt Warm Springs
Institute of Rehabilitation when she responded to an advertisement for lead
nurse with a newly created Subacute Detox Program in LaGrange and worked her way
to the position of CEO, which she has held since 1994; and
WHEREAS,
her loving dedication at work is only surpassed by her love for her family, and
she is married to David Turner and has one son, Jonathan Harper;
and
WHEREAS,
throughout her inspiring career, she has touched the hearts and lives of
countless patients, colleagues, and employees through her selfless dedication to
the task of healing the sick, guiding the lost and confused, and alleviating the
pain of those in her care; and
WHEREAS,
she has brought honor to her family, community, and the State of
Georgia.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and commend Ms. Joan K. Turner for her exemplary career in
the health services and for her outstanding contributions to the safety and
positive growth of her community.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Joan K.
Turner.
