RESOLUTION
Commending
Angela Della Costanza Turner; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Angela Della Costanza Turner has served as Honorary Consul of Italy for the
State of Georgia since 2005, and in October 2006 she became a U.S. citizen;
and
WHEREAS,
she has a distinguished record of public service, including serving as an
official member of the Atlanta chapter of UNICEF (United Nations Children´s
Fund) where she has worked to raise funds for educational programs for young
children in war-torn countries, highlight and unite the international community
in Atlanta, establish a greater presence for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF-Southeast,
and honor philanthropists and celebrities who have demonstrated commitment to
eradicating poverty and lack of education for children in the world; and all of
these efforts culminated in the establishment of a program which raised
$350,000.00 to send 20,000 girls to school for one year, including
teachers´ expenses and school supplies; and
WHEREAS,
she has served also with distinction as a member of the Italian American
Business Council, Inc., chair of the first Italian Festival in Atlanta, guest
curator of the High Museum of Art, honorary board member of the Turner
Foundation, and project architect for various international firms;
and
WHEREAS,
she holds a Master in Architecture from Italy with professional registration in
Europe and has received numerous awards including a certificate of appreciation
from the American Institute of Architects and the Citizen Diplomat Award from
the Georgia Council for International Visitors.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Angela Della Costanza Turner, Honorary Consul of Italy for the
State of Georgia.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to Angela Della Costanza
Turner.
