the Clayton County Board of Education to uphold the oath taken by its members
and make its first and overarching priority the education and well being of the
students of the school system.
WHEREAS,
the Clayton County school system faces severe unrest and troubling questions
about its management, including a threatened loss of accreditation by the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS); and
WHEREAS,

need for the school system to establish a governing board that is capable of
fulfilling its roles and responsibilities ; and

under the Constitution of the State of Georgia the provision of an adequate
public education for the citizens is a primary obligation of the State of
Georgia; and nothing is more important to the future of our state than the
education of our young people; and
WHEREAS,
all public officers take a solemn oath to support the constitutions of the
United States and this state.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body does
hereby urge the Clayton County Board of Education to uphold the oath taken by

being of the students of the school system.
