RESOLUTION
Commending
Clarence D. "Tim" and Matilda McEntire Buffington on the occasion of their 70th
wedding anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Clarence and Matilda Buffington have long been regarded as one of the most
renowned couples in their community; and
WHEREAS,
this loving couple was joined in holy wedlock on April 17, 1938;
and
WHEREAS,
they stand as a proud and shining example of enduring love and affection and
have seen their family grow and flourish to include four children, nine
grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Buffington, who will be 92 years young on June 1, 2008, is retired from the
General Electric plant, where he was an exemplary worker; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Buffington, who will be 87 years young on July 13, 2008, has been an
industrious homemaker for all of these years; and
WHEREAS,
throughout 70 years of hardship, triumph, and joy, this couple has strongly
maintained their love and devotion for each other, and the longevity of their
happy marriage has been a testament to others.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Clarence D. "Tim" and Matilda McEntire Buffington for their
many decades of unyielding strength and unparalleled inspiration on behalf of
all of their family, congratulate them upon the joyous occasion of their 70th
wedding anniversary, and extend to them best wishes for continued health and
happiness.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Clarence and Matilda
Buffington.
