RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Euharlee Baptist Church; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
on March 15, 2008, several devastating storms swept through Bartow County, which
spawned multiple tornadoes, generating winds in excess of 100 miles-per-hour,
totally destroying several homes and damaging hundreds of other homes and
businesses; and
WHEREAS,
in the aftermath of these storms, many families were without food, clothing, and
shelter, and hundreds of citizens were in need of emergency relief supplies;
and
WHEREAS,
recognizing the immediate needs of those affected by the storms, the people of
Euharlee Baptist Church opened the doors of their church and their hearts to
provide for the needs of their community; and
WHEREAS,
over 175 members of the church responded by providing meals to nearly 3,000
residents, as well as public safety personnel and emergency relief volunteers;
and
WHEREAS,
Euharlee Baptist Church made available their church facilities as a place of
rest, counseling, and prayer for the tired and weary relief workers, and opened
their fellowship hall to the Red Cross as an emergency shelter for tornado
victims; and
WHEREAS,
in the Gospel of Matthew, Christ directed His Church to minister to the needy,
by providing food, water, clothing, shelter, and other needs; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper for Euharlee Baptist Church to be recognized
for its outstanding contributions to the citizens of Bartow County who were
devastated during the recent storms.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join together to commend the pastor, the leadership, and the
congregation of Euharlee Baptist Church, and commend them for their continued
ministry to the spiritual and physical needs of their community, and for their
unselfish and dedicated public service.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the pastor of
Euharlee Baptist Church.
