RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the Mill Creek Dixie Youth baseball team on winning the 2007 Class AA State
Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
with the support of their families, peers, and the community, the Mill Creek
Dixie Youth baseball team played in three tournaments this season, including the
Buford Invitational, with a record of 3-0; Sub-District at George Pierce Park,
with a record of 5-0, coming in at first place; and finally seizing the Class AA
State Championship at Collins Hill Park, closing the year with a record of 7-1;
and
WHEREAS,
this team's overall record for the year includes 15 wins and one loss with a
total of 138 runs scored, 27 runs allowed, 170 hits with a team batting average
of .471, ten state records broken, eight state records tied, 131 strikeouts, and
21 home run hits including seven scored by John Mills, five by Jay Pendley,
four by Will Hardigree, two by Stephen Cullen, two by Tyler Calvert, and one by
Sean Akins; and
WHEREAS,
the Mill Creek Dixie Youth baseball team reached the championship with the
assistance of Head Coach Brett Pendley and an outstanding assistant coaching
staff including Assistant Coaches Joey Hardigree and John Akins and through the
efforts of the following athletes: Cory Riley, John Mills, Will Hardigree,
Tyler Calvert, Stephen Cullen, Jay Pendley, Steven Casey, Mason Parr, Sean
Akins, Kyle Simpson, Logan Patrick, and Cole Wroble; and
WHEREAS,
the Mill Creek Dixie Youth exemplified the virtues of sportsmanship and
community spirit, playing alongside their neighbors and fellow
teammates.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body
recognizes and commends the 2007 State Class AA State Champions Mill Creek Dixie
Youth baseball team, Head Coach Brett Pendley, and Assistant Coaches Joey
Hardigree and John Akins for their outstanding
performance.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Mill Creek Dixie Youth baseball team.
