RESOLUTION
Honoring
and commending the Classic City High School Performance Learning Center for
helping high school dropouts return to school and receive an education; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Classic City High School Performance Learning Center, which opened in 2003,
is an alternative for students who cannot attend school full time by offering
"minimesters"; and
WHEREAS,
students can take up to four courses in a "minimester," allowing students to
earn credits as soon as they exhibit an 80 percent mastery of the material;
and
WHEREAS,
the Classic City High School Performance Learning Center also offers on-site
child care which requires parents to take a parenting class in order to utilize
the facility; and
WHEREAS,
150 students have graduated from the Performance Learning Center with one-third
of those students pursuing postsecondary education options, 94 percent of
students have improved their grades, and 97 percent of students have improved
their attendance; and
WHEREAS,
it is fitting and proper for this superlative program to be recognized for its
contribution to the education of the youth in this state.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring and commending the Classic City High School
Performance Learning Center for helping high school dropouts return to school
and receive an education.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Classic
City High School Performance Learning Center.
