RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Stephen and Erin Chance; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Stephen and Erin Chance are the proud and loving parents of three amazing
children: Madison, age 6, who loves dogs; Patrick, age 5, who loves Spiderman;
and Anna, age 2, who loves fairy tales and princesses; and
WHEREAS,
on June 2, 2006, their son Patrick was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma, a
form of childhood cancer; and
WHEREAS,
through their incredible faith, perseverance, and determination, Mr. and Mrs.
Chance turned their tragic experience into a fight, not only for Patrick, but
for all those parents and children experiencing similar tragedy by dedicating
themselves to raising awareness and financial support for the prevention and
cure of childhood cancers; and
WHEREAS,
despite having to raise three children, working, and flying multiple times each
month to New York for Patrick´s treatment, they managed to raise money by
hosting golf tournaments, tennis tournaments, and private parties, raising more
than $170,000 in two years; and
WHEREAS,
currently, their brave and beautiful son Patrick is winning his battle as he is
currently showing no signs of the disease, but this has not stopped Stephen and
Erin Chance from continuing their efforts to work toward finding a cure for and
prevention of childhood cancers; and
WHEREAS,
this family – filled with love, energy, passion, and incredible faith
– stands as a model of inspiration for all Georgians, and it is only
fitting and proper that this body recognize them for giving so much to the
citizens of the State of Georgia.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body hereby recognize and commend Stephen and Erin Chance and wish them the
best for the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Stephen and
Erin Chance.
