RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the Oconee County High School fast-pitch softball team on winning the 2006 AAA
State Championship and inviting them to appear before the House of
Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
on Tuesday, October 31, 2006, with the support of their families, peers, and the
greater Oconee community, the Lady Warriors scored a 2-0 victory to seize the
Class AAA Fast-pitch State Softball Championship; and
WHEREAS,
the Lady Warriors's defense demonstrated exceptional tenacity and resolve,
refusing to allow a single run during the regional, sectional, and state
playoffs; and
WHEREAS,
this occasion marked Oconee County High School's third consecutive state
championship in softball as well as its sixth state championship since 1996;
and
WHEREAS,
the Oconee County High School fast-pitch softball team reached the championship
under the leadership of Head Coach Brian Dickens and is composed of the
following athletes: Tiffany Bess, Haley Bird, Hilary Bird, Ali Bradford,
Catherine Butler, Brittanae Casper, Emily Cheek, Kasey Knight, Megan McClain,
Kirstin Rodrigues, Sandy Strickland, Alana Thomas, Sarah Vaughn, Raley White,
and Haley Williams; and
WHEREAS,
the Lady Warriors exemplified the virtues of sportsmanship and community spirit,
playing alongside their neighbors and fellow champions, the North Oconee Lady
Titans.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body
recognizes and commends the 2006 State Class AAA Champion Oconee County High
School fast-pitch softball team and Coach Brian Dickens for their outstanding
performance.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Oconee County High School fast-pitch softball team
is hereby invited to appear before the House of Representatives at a date and
time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House for the purpose of being recognized
by the House and receiving an appropriate copy of this resolution.
