RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life of and expressing regret at the passing of J. Verlon Minchew; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
on March 9, 2008, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most
distinguished citizens with the passing of J. Verlon Minchew; and
WHEREAS,
this life-time resident of Ware County was long recognized by the citizens of
his community for the vital role he played in leadership and for his deep
personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia and the United
States; and
WHEREAS,
he diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community as evidenced
dramatically by his many years of superlative service as district director of
the United States Department of Agriculture; and
WHEREAS,
he served his country with honor and distinction as a member of the United
States Army during the Second World War; and
WHEREAS,
he was an active member of Central Baptist Church and its co-workers' Sunday
school class, and he as a Mason and a Shriner; and
WHEREAS,
he was a loving father to his daughter and two sons and devoted grandfather to
his four grandchildren; and
WHEREAS,
this singular gentleman was a person of magnanimous strengths with an
unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and
kindness.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body express their deepest and most sincere regret at the passing of J.
Verlon Minchew and commend him for a lifetime of efficient, effective,
unselfish, and dedicated public service.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
J. Verlon Minchew.
