A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Matt Bridges, outstanding Georgia wrestler; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Matt Bridges is an accomplished individual who has excelled as an athlete and in
the community; and
WHEREAS,
this outstanding 140 lb. wrestling senior was named the Cherokee Ledger-News
All-County Wrestler of the Year for a second consecutive year; and
WHEREAS,
he is one of the greatest wrestlers in Georgia as demonstrated by his amazing
wrestling record which includes a region title and two state championships, and
he assisted in obtaining two county championships; and
WHEREAS,
this incredible athlete has tallied a 126-10 record over the past two years, won
300 matches over the past three years, and is undefeated in 2007 and 2008 state
tournaments with an 18-4 career record in state tournaments; and
WHEREAS,
Matt is a leader on and off the mat, displays a positive attitude, and always
gives more than 100 percent in all he does in a competition, in the classroom,
and in his community; and
WHEREAS,
he is a tremendous role model for his fellow teammates and students, displays
tremendous sportsmanship and team spirit, and stands as a principled example for
other young people to follow; and
WHEREAS,
he has benefited greatly from the expert leadership of his coaches and also from
the strong support of his school faculty and his many fans, friends, and family
members; and
WHEREAS,
this stellar young man epitomizes the courage, determination, leadership, and
character necessary to attain excellence in athletic prowess and performance and
to achieve success as an individual and citizen; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the superlative skills and outstanding
deeds of this accomplished athlete be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Matt Bridges for his unprecedented athletic performance and
extend to him their sincerest best wishes for continued success in the
future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Matt Bridges.
