RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and honoring the life of Allen Hill; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Allen Hill exemplified what it means to place others above oneself;
and
WHEREAS,
he diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and the people around
him as evidenced dramatically by his years of exemplary service to Gordon Lake
Wesleyan Church as a Sunday school teacher, a Sunday school superintendent, a
member of the board of directors, a member of the board of trustees, and the
church organist and as a missionary and the district youth president for the
Tennessee District of the Wesleyan Church; and
WHEREAS,
he owned and operated Hill's Garage until 1983, when he left for missionary work
in Haiti, providing free auto repairs to missionaries and people in need; and
WHEREAS,
he actively served as a missionary in various locations, including Haiti and
Costa Rica, where he hosted missionary trips and was the business manager for
the Haiti Mission, repaired a hospital roof and explored the possibility of
launching an extensive mission ministry, and explored the possibility of
beginning a drug addiction rehabilitation ministry; and
WHEREAS,
he was mission trip coordinator for the Tennessee District of the Wesleyan
Church, and he served on the board of directors for Freedom Counseling, a local
drug addiction rehabilitation facility; and
WHEREAS,
he was actively involved in building two houses to be used as residential
recovery houses for Freedom Counseling and was working to build dream homes in
the LaFayette community; and
WHEREAS,
he received counseling certification through the Georgia Dream Home program to
assist low-income families in purchasing a home, and he earned a private pilot's
license; and
WHEREAS,
he received the Outstanding Young Men of America award; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the life of this fine Georgian be
recognized and honored for the impact he had on numerous lives through his
willingness to give to others around him.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join together to recognize and honor the life of Allen Hill for his
outstanding service to God, his community, and this state and express their most
sincere condolences to his family and friends.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby
authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to
the family of Allen Hill.
