RESOLUTION
Commending
Dr. Gloria B. Tinubu; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Dr. Tinubu is an applied economist specializing in community and economic
development; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Tinubu has been a successful professional and community leader in Atlanta,
Georgia, for more than twenty years; and
WHEREAS,
some of Dr. Tinubu´s accomplishments and experiences include serving as
chair and associate professor in economics at Spellman College; serving on the
Atlanta City Council, representing District 12; working as the president and CEO
of Atlanta Cooperative Development Corporation and as president and chair of
Bromell Tinubu Group, L.L.C.; and
WHEREAS;
some of Dr. Tinubu´s honors and recognitions include being highlighted by
Essence Magazine
in their article titled "Women Who are
Shaping the World"; selected as "Who´s Who in Black Atlanta";
recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential Black Women in Atlanta by the
Atlanta Business League; and the Winnie Mandela Humanitarian Award for Public
Service; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Tinubu´s leadership both socially and professionally in the Atlanta and
Georgia community is worthy of recognition and stands as an example for men and
women throughout our state.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Dr. Gloria B. Tinubu for her accomplishments and her
contributions to her community.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Gloria B.
Tinubu.
