A RESOLUTION


Recognizing Victoria "Tori" Rodriguez; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Mill Creek High School Scholarship Pageant Organization was led this year by Miss Junior Mill Creek 2007, Victoria "Tori" Rodriguez, who organized the 2008 Promorama project; and

WHEREAS, Promorama is a volunteer effort where prom dresses are collected and donated to teenage girls who are in foster care in Gwinnett and surrounding counties; and

WHEREAS, more than 125 dresses were collected, at an estimated value of $20,000, from Mill Creek High School and five other schools in the county; and

WHEREAS, approximately 50 accessory items such as hair accessories, jewelry, and shoes were also collected for teenage girls in foster care; and

WHEREAS, all items were donated to the Foster Children's Foundation, an organization that provides needed supplies and clothing to foster children free of charge; and

WHEREAS, this spring, more than 100 teenage girls in foster care will receive the items from the Foster Children's Foundation to ensure a beautiful prom evening; and

WHEREAS, the Promorama prom dress drive is part of First Lady Mary Perdue's Kids First Initiative, and she visited Mill Creek High School to honor Victoria "Tori" Rodriguez and the other students involved in this year's Promorama efforts; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this body recognize with particularity the outstanding accomplishments of Victoria "Tori" Rodriguez and the other students involved with the 2008 Promorama prom dress drive and commend them on their outstanding efforts.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join together in recognizing Victoria "Tori" Rodriguez and commend her and the other students who assisted with the 2008 Promorama volunteer effort and wish them the very best in the future.

BE IF FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Victoria "Tori" Rodriguez.
