RESOLUTION
Recognizing
Norcross Elementary School´s Empty Bowls ice cream social; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Norcross Elementary School is hosting an Empty Bowls ice cream social on March
31, 2008, at 6:00 P.M. at the school´s cafeteria; and
WHEREAS,
this ice cream social is raising money for the Norcross Cooperative Ministry, a
food bank that serves families in the area; and
WHEREAS,
Empty Bowls began as a service learning project in 1990 at a high school in
Michigan to raise awareness about the plight of hunger in our country;
and
WHEREAS,
Empty Bowls dinners have raised millions of dollars for food banks and soup
kitchens across the United States; and
WHEREAS,
Norcross Elementary students have made clay bowls to be given away to everyone
who attends the ice cream social; and
WHEREAS,
Norcross Elementary will also be having the school art show and fine arts
showcase at this event; and
WHEREAS,
Empty Bowls is a most worthwhile cause and the students of Norcross Elementary
School and all participants are providing a wonderful opportunity for their
community to come together in a generosity of spirit and action.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the admirable efforts and upcoming event of this
extraordinary group of students.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Norcross
Elementary School Principal Dr. Dora Hill.
