RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and congratulating the members of the Rho Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa
Alpha Sorority, Inc., on the occasion of their 20th anniversary; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Rho Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., celebrates its
20th anniversary in 2008; and
WHEREAS,
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., was founded on the campus of Howard University
in Washington, D.C., on January 15, 1908; and
WHEREAS,
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, the oldest Greek-letter organization established by
and for African-American college women, over the past 100 years has earned a
reputation as a premier philanthropic organization in recognition of its
community service throughout the United States and the world; and
WHEREAS,
since 1988, Rho Zeta Omega Chapter has provided community service through
various programs and projects throughout the north suburban Atlanta area;
and
WHEREAS,
since its chartering in 1988, Rho Zeta Omega Chapter has awarded over $145,000
in scholarships to high school seniors; and
WHEREAS,
in keeping with the sorority's ideals of high scholastic achievement, Rho Zeta
Omega Chapter's scholarship program is designed to support and encourage
education beyond the high school years; and
WHEREAS,
additional chapter programs are structured to encourage entrepreneurship, the
economic growth of the Black family, health resource management, and economics;
and
WHEREAS,
Rho Zeta Omega Chapter's combined chapter programs comprise the Heart of ESP:
Extraordinary Service Programs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join together to recognize the Rho Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and congratulate them on their 20th anniversary.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join together to recognize the Rho Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and congratulate them on their 20th anniversary.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Rho Zeta
Omega.
