A
RESOLUTION
Commending
Micah Mills on his outstanding accomplishments during his young life; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Micah Mills is a senior at Johnson High School in Gainesville, Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
in addition to being an outstanding student, he has excelled on the football
field and has received many honors, including Wendy´s Heisman Winner for
Johnson High School (2007/2008), Captain of the football team (2006, 2007/2008),
varsity football Most Valuable Player (2007), All Region Football Defensive Team
(2007/2008), Knights of the Round Table for four years in a row, and the only
male from Johnson High to be nominated for the Vince Dooley Award;
and
WHEREAS,
he was named a varsity football Knight of Knowledge for all four years of high
school for maintaining a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while he
participated in sports; and
WHEREAS,
in addition to his achievements in the classroom and on the football field,
Micah has excelled in wrestling, receiving many honors, including varsity
wrestling Captain (2006, 2007/2008), Hall County Champion in varsity wrestling
(2008), third place finish in region area wrestling (2008), most reversals
(2008), most near falls (2008), varsity wrestling Most Valuable Player (2008),
and state qualifier varsity wrestling (2008), when he finished in the top 15
wrestlers in the state for the 189 pound weight class, winning over 40 matches
during his senior year alone; and
WHEREAS,
Micah was named a varsity wrestling Knight of Knowledge for maintaining a grade
point average of 3.5 or higher while he participated in sports; and
WHEREAS,
he is a member of several school organizations, including the National Honors
Society, Beta Club, Young Republicans, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the
Key Club; and
WHEREAS,
he also serves his community through volunteer work, including Extreme Grace
Home Makeover, a Mississippi hurricane relief project (April 3-7, 2006),
volunteering as a page for Georgia House of Representatives (2002 through 2008),
the Church Men´s Ministry to Widows and Senior Adults (2007), Vacation
Bible School Volunteer (one week each summer, 2002 through 2007), and as a
Junior Knights Football Camp volunteer (July, 2007); and
WHEREAS,
it is only fitting that this outstanding young student athlete be recognized as
a mature young man who has demonstrated leadership ability among his peers at
every level of life — whether he is on the athletic field or in the
academic arena.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Micah Mills on his outstanding accomplishments and wish him
continued success in all areas of his life.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Micah Mills.
