RESOLUTION
Commending
the Brookwood School boys basketball team, Class AA State Champions, and Head
Coach Brad Piazza; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
under the successful guidance of Coach Brad Piazza, the Brookwood School boys
basketball team posted an overall season record of 26-3; and
WHEREAS,
the team members had tremendous speed and athleticism, an uptempo style, break
away slam dunks that kept the fans on their feet, and full court pressure
defense that created several turnovers and easy transition baskets;
and
WHEREAS,
in a spectacular win in the state championship game, as a fitting finale to
their remarkable 2007-2008 season, the Brookwood School boys basketball team
earned the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) Class AA Championship
state title; and
WHEREAS,
four players, Blair Austin, Keith Brantley, Kevin Clark, and Rodger Walker,
were named to the All Region Team and three players, Keith Brantley, Kevin
Clark, and Rodger Walker, were named to the All State Team; and
WHEREAS,
this is the first state championship in boys basketball for Brookwood School
since the 1976-1977 season and the Thomasville community and the State of
Georgia take great pride in the outstanding accomplishments of these fine young
champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in commending the members of the Brookwood School boys basketball
team and their Head Coach Brad Piazza for a spectacular and memorable
season.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Brookwood
School boys basketball team.
