RESOLUTION
Expressing
regret at the passing of William Littleton Collins; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
William Littleton Collins was an exceptionally devoted and hardworking Georgia
REALTOR® who stood for others as a shining example of the profession;
and
WHEREAS,
this University of Georgia graduate was born February 9, 1948, in Louisville,
Georgia, to Dorothy and William Collins; and
WHEREAS,
he was a lifetime Georgia Bulldog fan, seeking out a television when away from
home so he would not miss an opportunity to see his Dawgs play; and
WHEREAS,
this beacon of generousity could be counted on to perform any role in which he
was asked to serve and to give his time and assistance to anyone in need, not
out of obligation but out of his desire to help those in his profession and in
his community; and
WHEREAS,
as an active member of the Athens Area Association of REALTORS® (AAAR) and
the Georgia Association of REALTORS® (GAR), he took on expansive roles
representing REALTORS®, serving as AAAR ´s President in 1998 and being
recognized as REALTOR® of the Year for AAAR in 2002; and
WHEREAS,
at the time of his passing on November 11, 2006, he was serving as the Vice
President of Governmental Affairs for GAR and a member of the Georgia Real
Estate Commission Task Force; and
WHEREAS,
he also found time to stay actively involved in the community by volunteering
his time with the Georgia Fire Fighters Burn Foundation, the United Way, and the
Boys and Girls Club of Athens and sharing his real estate knowledge as the
Building Committee Chairman of the Oconee River Methodist Church;
and
WHEREAS,
he utilized the services of an interpreter in order to reach out to more than 60
Hispanic families in the Athens area to help them in their pursuit of the
American dream of owning their own homes; and
WHEREAS,
his humble dedication to work, community, family, and God set an example for
others to follow; and
WHEREAS,
while in life he commanded the esteem of his fellow Georgians, in his passing we
mingle our sympathies with the grief of his family and friends.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in remembering and honoring William Littleton Collins for his
dedication and service to his profession, his community, and the citizens of the
State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
William Littleton Collins.
