RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and honoring the life of Mr. Tony Ray Thomas; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most distinguished citizens with
the untimely passing of Mr. Tony Ray Thomas; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Thomas was born on December 12, 1957, in Savannah, Georgia, the son of the
late James and Lois Thomas; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Thomas was a packaging superintendent at the Imperial Sugar Plant for 31
years; and
WHEREAS,
he was very active in his community as a member of the Garden City Board of
Appeals and coach for the Garden City and Port Wentworth Recreational
Departments; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Thomas was a devoted father, friend to his community, and member of the
Quacco Chapel Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS,
his unparalleled leadership talents, remarkable patience and diplomacy, keen
sense of vision, and acute sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of his
community and this state earned him the respect and admiration of his family,
friends, and colleagues; and
WHEREAS,
while in life he commanded the esteem of his fellow Georgians; in his death we
mingle our sympathies with the grief of his family and friends.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join together in recognizing and honoring the life of this
extraordinary individual and send their sincere and most heartfelt condolences
to his family, friends, and colleagues.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby
authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to
the family of Mr. Tony Ray Thomas.
