A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the "Moby in the Morning" radio show and inviting Moby to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the "Moby in the Morning" radio show is a daily companion, a good friend, laughter, love, sincerity, fun, and maybe just a little silliness to a lot of people; and

WHEREAS, there is something for mom and dad, grandma and grandpa, and just for the kids, and city cousins are certainly welcome in this place where no one is excluded; and

WHEREAS, the values of people in towns of all sizes across this great land will always be in the driver's seat at this morning radio show, because it is a place for people who simply want to "get back to their roots" and have a friendly place to turn on the radio dial, regardless of their home address; and

WHEREAS, born in Crossville, Tennessee, Moby got his nickname at age 12, and has been known as "Moby in the Morning" on the radio since 1981, getting his first radio job at age 15 on WCSV-AM in Crossville; and

WHEREAS, Moby attended Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee, with the dream of becoming a high school band director, but radio had gotten under his skin, so he left college and went back to Crossville, where he worked for WAEW for two years; and

WHEREAS, upon leaving Crossville, he moved on to Columbia and Nashville, Tennessee; Tampa, Florida; Houston and Dallas, Texas; and finally returned to Houston before relocating to Atlanta and becoming involved in country music radio where he remains today; and

WHEREAS, one of the original "shock jocks", Moby worked in Rock and Top 40 before dropping that way-overdone shock persona, moving to country radio in 1991, finding what he calls his "true radio home and real love"; and

WHEREAS, Moby, president of Atlanta based Moby Enterprises, Inc., and creator of "The Biggest Small Town in America" Radio Network, has a 25 year history as the top morning disc jockey in Dallas, Houston, and Atlanta where he was the top rated morning personality for ten years on KICKS 101.5 FM; and

WHEREAS, he is a five-time winner of Billboard's Major Market Country Morning Show of the Year, nominated twice as Major Market Morning Show of the Year by the Country Music Association, and was the Academy of Country Music's Major Market DJ of the Year; and

WHEREAS, he is the father of Jonah and Grace, and lives in Roswell, Georgia with his lovely wife, Mary Beth.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join together to recognize the "Moby in the Morning" radio show, commend Moby for the outstanding and exemplary job he does on this show, and invite him to appear before this body at a date and time designated by the Speaker of the House for the purpose of being recognized by the House and receiving an appropriate copy of this resolution.
