A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and honoring the life of William Berryman "Bill" Sanders; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. William Berryman "Bill" Sanders was born in Laurel Hill, Florida, on April 6, 1945; and

WHEREAS, he was the son of Mr. Walter William Sanders and Mrs. Hazel Myrtle Edenfield, and he was the youngest of five siblings; and

WHEREAS, he was a basketball star that helped take his high school Hoboes team to the state playoffs and was subsequently offered a basketball scholarship, but decided to pursue other interests; and

WHEREAS, he fell in love with Ms. Carolyn Marie Holloway of Marietta, Georgia, and they were married on November 9, 1966, and they had two sons, Tracy and Will; and

WHEREAS, he worked for the Atlanta Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 19 years and retired as a district manager, and in retirement he became a successful real estate investor; and

WHEREAS, he went on to serve the people of District 107 as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives for eight years, during which time he labored to abolish the Georgia state income tax, which he thought was repressive to the workers of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he voted "no" on any bill that raised taxes; and

WHEREAS, he was a conservative Republican representing Orchard Hill, Georgia, where he contributed significantly to the quality of life of his fellow citizens; and

WHEREAS, he supported the party with his time, intellect, money, and energy; and
WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that the Honorable Bill Sanders and his wife, Carolyn, be commended for their contributions and many years of service to their community and this state.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Honorable Bill Sanders and his wife, Carolyn, for their many years of service to others and their devotion to each other through their 38 years of marriage.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Tracy and Will Sanders.
