RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Lugenia G. Clark on the occasion of her retirement; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Lugenia G. Clark is a registered nurse, a loving mother, and a vital member
of her community; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Clark was born on April 11, 1946, in Girard, Georgia, to the late Mr.
Bossie and Mother Ida Griffin; and
WHEREAS,
she began her education in Burke County, but her family soon moved to Chatham
County where she graduated in 1964 from Sophronia M. Tompkins High School,
receiving a scholarship to Tuskegee University in Alabama and Morris Brown
College in Atlanta, Georgia, both of which she turned down so she could remain
at home and care for her ill parents; and
WHEREAS,
she married on February 20, 1965, and remained married until 1986, during which
time she and her husband had three children; and
WHEREAS,
to obtain her nursing skills, she attended Harris Area Trade School and
graduated with a diploma in practical nursing and went on to pass the state
board examination, becoming a licensed practical nurse in 1966; and
WHEREAS,
she later went back to Armstrong Atlantic State University and earned an
Associate's Degree in nursing; and
WHEREAS,
she began working at Memorial Health University Medical Center in 1966, and will
retire after 41 years of service on February 29, 2008; and
WHEREAS,
she is a faithful servant at Temple of Glory Community Church, serving as the
secretary of the Sunday school, in the pastor's convention ministry, the health
ministry, the senior's ministry, and the servant's health ministry, and as a
trustee; and
WHEREAS,
she is a former member of Savannah Black Nurses Association.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and commend Mrs. Lugenia G. Clark on the occasion of her
retirement and for her exemplary career in the health services and for her
contributions to the safety of her community.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Lugenia
G. Clark.
