House Resolution 1499

A RESOLUTION


Commending Jill Ryerson; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Jill Ryerson is widely recognized throughout this state as the personification of excellence in education; and

WHEREAS, this highly respected professional educator has served with honor and distinction as a seventh grade arts teacher at North Whitfield Middle School; and

WHEREAS, she believes that her continuing role as a teacher is to act as an instrument of inspiration and enthusiasm to her pupils and to help them learn academically and socially so they will become lifelong learners; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of her outstanding achievements, she has been selected from an elite group of teachers as the recipient of the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award, an honor which is sometimes referred to as the "Oscar" of education, and carries with it a $25 thousand award; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Ryerson has taught for 14 years, and this is her eighth year of teaching at North Whitfield Middle School; and

WHEREAS, through dedication and professionalism, she has brought honor to herself, her family, her colleagues, and the Whitfield County School System, which she represents as Georgia's Milken Family Foundation National Educator for 2007; and

WHEREAS, she is a shining example of the important impact that the efforts of individual education professionals are making on the quality of education received by students of this state, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that her superlative accomplishments be recognized appropriately.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body heartily and gratefully commend Jill Ryerson for her many years of sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia and for the positive influence she has had upon the lives and futures of countless people in this state and extend to her their most sincere best wishes for health and happiness in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Jill Ryerson.
