A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mr. James "Jimmy" L. Chupp; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. James "Jimmy" L. Chupp is widely recognized throughout his community as the personification of excellence in education and coaching; and

WHEREAS, he has a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Presbyterian College, a Master of Arts in curriculum and supervision from the University of Georgia, and an education specialist degree in educational leadership from the University of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he and his lovely wife, Claire, have three children, twins Joseph and Jeremy, age 23, and Rachael, age 11; and

WHEREAS, since 1994, this highly respected professional educator and coach has served with honor and distinction as teacher, assistant coach, head football coach, assistant principal, principal, assistant to the president, director of development, and vice president of development at Greater Atlanta Christian School; and

WHEREAS, during his nine years of coaching the Spartans, they made the playoffs each season and had an 89-24 record, but his biggest success came in 2002, when the Spartans, including his twin sons Jeremy and Joseph, won close playoff games on their way to the AA state championship game; and

WHEREAS, prior to joining the staff at Greater Atlanta Christian School he taught with Brookwood High School from 1981 until 2004; and

WHEREAS, his love for the students he coached and passion for the game not only won football games but taught his boys how to be morally upright, Godly young men, providing them with principles they can use throughout their lives; and

WHEREAS, he is a shining example of the important impact that the efforts of individual education professionals are making on the quality of education received by the children of this state, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that his superlative accomplishments be recognized appropriately.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body heartily and gratefully commend Mr. James "Jimmy" L. Chupp for his sacrifice, foresight, accomplishments, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia and for the positive influence he has had upon the lives and futures of countless young people in this state and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for health and happiness in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. James "Jimmy" L. Chupp.
