RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mayor Lois Richards; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mayor Lois Richards's career has spanned well over 30 years in elective office;
and
WHEREAS,
Mayor Richards has served in an exemplary manner with total and complete
devotion to the City of Crawfordville and its citizens; and
WHEREAS,
on December 31, 2007, she completed four years as Mayor of the City of
Crawfordville, and she is the mother of the Taliaferro Probate Judge, Martha
Mayo, and the grandmother of Taliaferro Sheriff Marc Richards; and
WHEREAS,
she spent 17 years as tax commissioner, four years on the Board of
Commissioners, and eight years as Probate Judge in Taliaferro County, Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
during her tenure, Crawfordville retired its debt, completed the sewage pond,
and was awarded a grant to continue residential sewage improvements;
and
WHEREAS,
leaving office she would like to see the Adult Learning Center building
completed, the rehabilitation efforts continued, and the newly formed Chamber of
Commerce be successful; and
WHEREAS,
she loves the City of Crawfordville and plans to enjoy her spare time, but plans
to remain actively involved.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in recognizing Lois Richards for her 30 years of service to the
City of Crawfordville and extend to her their best wishes for a long and
prosperous future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mayor Lois
Richards.
