A RESOLUTION


Commending Brad Stansbury on being named STAR Student at Jefferson High School; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Brad Stansbury has achieved exceptional scholastic accomplishments at Jefferson High School in Clarke County, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, each year a top academic senior in each participating Georgia high school is named the STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) student for a high school and, in order to qualify for a nomination, the student must have the highest score in one sitting on the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) and be in the top 10 percent of the student´s class; and

WHEREAS, Brad transferred to Jefferson High School at the beginning of his junior year from Prairie Central High School in Fairbury, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, while at Prairie Central High School, he was a member of the math team, scholastic bowl, and spelling bee where he advanced to the region competition, and while on the math team he won the Lexington County math competition in the 8th, 9th, and 10th grades; and

WHEREAS, upon transferring to Jefferson High School, he immediately joined the academic bowl and became a member of the Beta Club; and

WHEREAS, Brad is an exceptional athlete, belonging to the football, track, and wrestling teams; and

WHEREAS, upon graduation he plans to major in one of the sciences at college; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to recognize appropriately the accomplishments and achievements of this remarkable young person.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Brad Stansbury for his extraordinary scholastic accomplishments, congratulate him upon being named the Jefferson High School STAR Student, and express to him their sincerest best wishes for continued happiness and success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Brad Stansbury.
