A
RESOLUTION
Congratulating
St. Simons Community Church; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
in 1996, a small body of believers formed St. Simons Community Church primarily
for the proclamation of the Gospel and to worship the true and living God;
and
WHEREAS,
they held their first service on Easter Sunday, 1996, at a home in St. Simons,
Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
they hired their pastor, David Yarborough, in 1999; and
WHEREAS,
upon outgrowing their original meeting place, the congregation moved to the
cafeteria at Frederica Academy where, each Sunday, they had to bring their
folding chairs, play pens for the nursery, and music equipment from a storage
rental facility nearby; and
WHEREAS,
after outgrowing their academy location, they rented space at the shops of
Demere, tearing out walls to enlarge the facility as they grew; and
WHEREAS,
in 2006, God provided them with a strategic piece of land in the heart of St.
Simons Island, and, on March 2, 2008, St. Simons Community Church will open the
doors of its new facility with the hope of having a deep spiritual impact on the
people of their community; and
WHEREAS,
the seeds which were sown by the loving and humble efforts of those early,
devout worshipers have blossomed into a landmark institution under the guiding
hands and hearts of the church's pastor and congregation.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend St. Simons Community Church for its steadfast, unselfish, and
loving service to the people of this state; congratulate the congregation upon
the grand occasion of the inaugural service of its new worship facility on
Sunday, March 2, 2008; and extend to the church and its congregation best wishes
for continued growth and service to the community.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Pastor David
Yarborough.
