A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Oconee County Middle School Future Farmers of America and inviting them to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Oconee County Middle School FFA of Watkinsville, Georgia, has been named "Outstanding Middle School" Model of Innovation winner at the 80th National FFA Convention; and

WHEREAS, Toyota sponsors the Model of Innovation awards as a special project of the National FFA Foundation, and it is one of the many ways FFA members accomplish the FFA mission and succeed in making a difference in their communities and the lives of their fellow students; and

WHEREAS, the nation's top ten three-star gold chapters in the middle school development division competed for this award, and Oconee County Middle School FFA received a plaque in an on-stage ceremony during the convention; and

WHEREAS, the Oconee County Middle School FFA promotes thoughtful citizenship among its members by organizing a holiday canned food and toy drive, providing gifts for teachers, and fostering positive relationships between FFA and the community by caroling in the community during the Christmas season; and

WHEREAS, the Oconee County Middle School FFA chapter runs its own self-sustaining school floral business, where students prepare the floral arrangements, prepare cards for the floral arrangements, make the deliveries, prepare invoices for orders, collect payment, and keep financial records of their sales and disbursements; and

WHEREAS, as these young people have demonstrated an exemplary dedication to the FFA and their community, it is fitting and proper to commend them on this occasion.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize the Oconee County Middle School FFA, commend them for their accomplishments, and invite them to appear before this body on a date and time designated by the Speaker of the House for the purpose of being recognized and receiving appropriate copies of this resolution.
