A RESOLUTION


Commending Dr. Jack Parish; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. Jack Parish began his work in education as a teacher and a coach at Riverdale High School in Clayton County; and

WHEREAS, after working at Riverdale High School for seven years, Dr. Parish made the decision to continue his professional career in Henry County, where he himself was educated as a youth; and

WHEREAS, for the last 20 years, Dr. Parish has served the Henry County school system in the positions of assistant principal, principal, assistant personnel director, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, and for the past seven years as superintendent; and

WHEREAS, as superintendent of schools, Dr. Parish is committed to the school system´s mission of "Ensuring Success for Each Student," and he firmly believes that remaining focused on this mission will enable the school system to achieve its goals of becoming one of the top performing school systems in the state and in the nation; and

WHEREAS, this magnificent educator is truly involved in education in Georgia and in his community as evidenced by his membership in numerous professional and community organizations such as the American Association of School Administrators; the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders Board of Directors; the Georgia School Boards Association´s Superintendents´ Advisory Board; Congressman Lynn Westmoreland´s Education Advisory Council; the Griffin Regional Education Service Agency´s Board of Directors; the Henry County Chamber of Commerce´s Board of Directors; the Henry County Board of Health; and Mercer University´s Educational Leadership Advisory Board, in addition to serving as a trustee for the Smith Foundation and as President-Elect of the Georgia School Superintendent´s Association; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Parish is also a devoted husband to his wife with whom he lives in McDonough, Georgia with their two dogs, Ben and Scout; and

WHEREAS, it is Dr. Parish´s goal to prepare students to be successful and productive citizens in the 21st century and, with the help of an experienced staff of quality teachers and administrators dedicated to educational excellence, he has met that goal and continues to plot a forward course for education in Henry County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Dr. Jack Parish for his devotion and tireless commitment to both students and educators and to improving the quality of education in Henry County and in the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Jack Parish.
