RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and honoring the life of Mayor Robert S. "Bob" Boney; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Robert S. "Bob" Boney served as mayor of the City of Leesburg in Lee County,
Georgia, for the past 17 years; and
WHEREAS,
Mayor Boney served in an exemplary manner with total and complete devotion to
the City of Leesburg and its citizens; and
WHEREAS,
prior to becoming mayor, he was a businessman, a member of the Marine Corps, a
revenue agent for the State of Georgia for ten years, and a warden of Lee County
Correctional Institute for 20 years; and
WHEREAS,
Mayor Boney also served the Leesburg Shrine Club, the Peace Officers Association
of Georgia, and many other civic, public, and governmental organizations, not
only in Lee County, but throughout the state; and
WHEREAS,
he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; and
WHEREAS,
Mayor Boney was a member of the Leesburg United Methodist Church for many years;
and
WHEREAS,
Mayor Boney was honored by a proclamation of the United States House of
Representatives; and
WHEREAS,
Mayor Boney was a dedicated public servant to Leesburg, Lee County, and its
citizens to the extent that even recent illnesses could not deter him from his
duties.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the life of Mayor Robert S. "Bob" Boney and extend to his
family and friends their most sincere condolences.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mayor Robert S. "Bob" Boney.
