A RESOLUTION


Recognizing February 12, 2008, as "African American Business Enterprise Day" at the state capitol and inviting the Georgia Summit of African American Business Organizations to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, success in the face of adversity has always been worthy of recognition and celebration; and

WHEREAS, African American businesses have made significant contributions to the progress, growth, and economic prosperity of the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, with ingenuity born of adversity and perseverance stemming from hardship, African American entrepreneurs have created a vast and diverse array of business enterprises in this state; and

WHEREAS, with successful enterprises ranging from small businesses to major corporations, African American entrepreneurs have uniquely influenced the business culture of this state and have built an outstanding and enduring legacy of success for future generations.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the outstanding record of stellar service and countless contributions which African American entrepreneurs have made to the State of Georgia and recognize February 12, 2008, as "African American Business Enterprise Day" at the state capitol.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the Georgia Summit of African American Business Organizations are invited to appear before the House of Representatives at a date and time to be determined by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Charles Johnson, Sr., of the
Georgia Summit of African American Business Organizations.
