RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Honorable David Scott, Representative, 13th Congressional
District, as a recipient of the 2008 Trumpet Award; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Honorable David Scott was awarded the 2008 Trumpet Award; and
WHEREAS,
originally presented by Turner Broadcasting in 1993, and now presented by the
Trumpet Awards Foundation, Inc., the Trumpet Awards were created to herald the
accomplishments of Black Americans who have succeeded against immense odds;
and
WHEREAS,
special recognition is given to the few, who symbolize the many, who have
overcome the ills of racism and poverty and achieved special greatness;
and
WHEREAS,
this award acknowledges the accomplishments of men and women who have
significantly contributed to enhancing the quality of life for all individuals
and/or groups who augment the richness of this great global society by
partnering with the cause of justice and equality for all; and
WHEREAS,
the mission of the award is to inspire, educate, stimulate, and enlighten human
minds to the reality that success, achievement, and respect are devoid of color
and gender; and
WHEREAS,
men and women who, through consistency and longevity, have achieved success in a
chosen profession or career are eligible for consideration; and
WHEREAS,
potential honorees are those persons who are viewed not only for what they have
individually achieved, but also for the achievement they inspire in
others.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the Honorable David Scott, Representative, 13th
Congressional District, for his outstanding leadership and commend him on being
awarded the 2008 Trumpet Award.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Honorable
David Scott, Representative, 13th Congressional District.
