A RESOLUTION

Honoring Dr. Reverend E. L. Hart and Sister Pearl Hart for 30 years of service at First African Missionary Baptist Church; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, on Sunday, December 2, 2007, the congregation of First African Missionary Baptist Church in Kingsland, Georgia, honored Dr. Reverend E. L. Hart and Sister Pearl Hart for 30 years of service to the community; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Hart was born in Eastman, Georgia, the son of the late Eddie and Gertrude Davis Hart, and in his youth he developed a solid work ethic working as a turpentine laborer and as a laborer at the Cloister Hotel before beginning a 33 1/2 year career as an employee and labor leader at the Brunswick Pulp and Paper Company; and

WHEREAS, he met and married the love of his life, Pearl, and the couple raised a family, but there was a longing in his soul that could only be filled by answering the Lord´s call, and so in 1974 he was accepted into the ministry and became pastor at Union Baptist Church in Ardock, Georgia, then Eastlight Baptist Church, and then Zion Rock Baptist Church, and finally in 1977 he was called to serve as pastor at First African Missionary Church in Kingsland, and so he came to pastor both Zion Rock and First African Missionary simultaneously; and

WHEREAS, in his life as a father, employee, and pastor, Dr. Hart never lost sight of the inspiration and help without which he could accomplish nothing, the woman God had sent to him, Sister Pearl, and the two truly shared the trials, joys, and triumphs of working in the Lord´s vineyards over the years; and

WHEREAS, even as he ministered to his flock, Dr. Hart grew academically, obtaining his GED in 1967, then earning a Bachelor of Practical Ministry in 2002 and a Masters in Practical Ministry in 2004, an Honorary Doctor of Religious Education that same year, and in 2005 he earned a Doctorate of Biblical Studies in Theology conferred by Masters Graduate School of Divinity; and

WHEREAS, it is only right and proper that the many good works of this unique man and woman be recognized and commended.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Reverend E. L.
