RESOLUTION
Expressing
regret at the passing of David Oliver Baird; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
on June 20, 2006, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most
distinguished citizens with the passing of David Oliver Baird; and
WHEREAS,
this most noble man was born in Jackson County, Georgia, to the late James
Walter Baird and Daisy Whitfield Baird; and
WHEREAS,
he married, Jackie, the love of his life, on July 28, 1967, and together they
built their home and business in Gainesville, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he was an honest and dedicated man who strived for excellence in all his
endeavors as evidenced dramatically by his business success as owner of Ultimate
Business Machines, Inc.; and
WHEREAS,
this beloved individual exhibited extraordinary devotion to duty, outstanding
loyalty, fine leadership, and meticulous attention to detail throughout his
life; and
WHEREAS,
he was a classic southern gentleman and a person of magnanimous strengths with
an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness;
and
WHEREAS,
he was a man of many hobbies, including archery and woodworking;
and
WHEREAS,
he was a founding member and committee member of the North Georgia Traditional
Archery Club, a committee member of the Foothills Chapter of the National Wild
Turkey Federation, and an accomplished woodworker, specializing in traditional
bows and box turkey calls; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Baird leaves behind a loving and devoted family, including his wife, Jackie,
and his two children, Christy and Cecil; and
WHEREAS,
as a business owner, leader, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend,
Mr. Baird will always be fondly remembered for his integrity, kindness, and
generous spirit, and he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to
know this most estimable gentleman; and
WHEREAS,
the passing of this generous, kind, and devoted family man leaves an unfillable
void in the hearts and lives of his family and friends.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body express their deepest and most sincere regret at the passing of David
Oliver Baird.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
David Oliver Baird.
