RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending NIBCO Greensboro; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
NIBCO Greensboro, located in Greensboro, Georgia, was honored by being accepted
into the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Voluntary
Protection Programs (VPP) as a Star site; and
WHEREAS,
NIBCO Greensboro is a subsidiary of NIBCO, Inc., which is headquartered in
Elkhart, Indiana, and is a global leader in the flow control industry, providing
a wide range of fittings and valves to construction and irrigation markets
worldwide; and
WHEREAS,
NIBCO Greensboro was built in 1979, and it currently employs approximately 140
people in the manufacturing and packaging of plastic plumbing fittings;
and
WHEREAS,
the VPP Star is the highest designation for safety and health excellence in the
program; and
WHEREAS,
NIBCO Greensboro is one of only 86 sites within the State of Georgia and 1,299
sites nationally to achieve Star status under OSHA's federal VPP programs;
and
WHEREAS,
the Star program is designed for exemplary work sites with comprehensive,
successful safety and health management systems; and
WHEREAS,
companies in the Star program have achieved injury or illness rates at or below
the national average of their respective industries, and these sites are
self-sufficient in their ability to control workplace hazards; and
WHEREAS,
Star status was awarded to NIBCO Greensboro after a rigorous audit of safety
procedures by the OSHA on-site review team, and they achieved an impressive
total case incidence rate of 62 percent below the current national manufacturing
industry average and a days away restricted or transferred incidence rate of 84
percent below the average.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and commend NIBCO Greensboro for achieving Star status under
OSHA's federal VPP programs.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to NIBCO
Greensboro.
