RESOLUTION
Celebrating
the life of Charles Henry "Chick" Almon and dedicating a road in his honor; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Charles Henry "Chick" Almon opened Almon Funeral Home in 1950; and
WHEREAS,
he served his country in World War II and for 50 years served the many families
in the City of Carrollton and the West Georgia area until his passing in 2000;
and
WHEREAS,
in addition to his service in the funeral home business, he made innumerable and
immeasurable contributions to our community; and
WHEREAS,
Almon Funeral Home continues to serve the City of Carrollton and the West
Georgia area from its location on Newnan Street; and
WHEREAS,
it is only fitting that a road be dedicated as a lasting monument to his
contributions to the people of this area.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the members of
this body offer their sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Charles
Henry "Chick" Almon on his passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the portion of Newnan Street from its intersection with
Newnan Road to its intersection with Rome and Bradley Streets, in the City of
Carrollton, be dedicated as the Charles Henry "Chick" Almon Memorial
Parkway.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Charles Henry "Chick" Almon and to the Department of Transportation.
