RESOLUTION
Commending
and congratulating Jill Goforth on her appointment as the principal of New
Holland Elementary School; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Jill Goforth received her calling as an educator while she was only in the
second grade when she realized that she wanted to be just like her teacher at
the old Candler Street School in Gainesville, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
she comes from a long legacy of educators as her grandmother and aunt were
teachers, her mother substitute taught for many years, and she has two sisters
who teach at Centennial Elementary School; and
WHEREAS,
she earned her bachelor´s and master´s degrees in education as well as
a master´s add-on in leadership and administration from the University of
Georgia, and she obtained her specialist degree from Brenau University in
Gainesville, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
she began her professional education career at Oakwood Elementary School, where
she taught second grade for seven years and then took some time off to raise her
two children, Key and Preston, before serving two years as the director of
preschool at the First Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS,
she spent the rest of her teaching years at Enota and Centennial Elementary
Schools before helping to open New Holland Elementary School in 2003 and serving
as the school´s assistant principal for three years; and
WHEREAS,
on December 6, 2006, the Gainesville City Board of Education named Jill Goforth
as the principal of New Holland Elementary School; and
WHEREAS,
she is widely recognized throughout the state as the personification of
excellence in education; and
WHEREAS, this highly respected teacher and administrator believes that her role as an educator is to prepare children to become adults and to do whatever it takes to reach students and make sure that they are successful, which is exactly what she has been doing and will continue to do at New Holland Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, this highly respected teacher and administrator believes that her role as an educator is to prepare children to become adults and to do whatever it takes to reach students and make sure that they are successful, which is exactly what she has been doing and will continue to do at New Holland Elementary School; and
WHEREAS,
Jill Goforth is a shining example of the important impact that the efforts of
educators and school administrators are making on the quality of education
received by the children of this state and it is abundantly fitting and proper
that her superlative accomplishment of being named principal of New Holland
Elementary School be recognized appropriately.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that members of this
body congratulate Jill Goforth on being named principal of New Holland
Elementary School and commend her excellent service and outstanding
contributions in the field of education in the State of Georgia.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Jill Goforth.
