A RESOLUTION


Honoring and remembering the great life and spirit of Mrs. Marilyn Murphy Ellison; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the City of Gainesville and the State of Georgia lost one of their finest citizens, friends, and spirits with the passing of Mrs. Marilyn Murphy Ellison on October 16, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Ellison was born in Gainesville, Georgia, to the late Bill Murphy and Frances Lawson Murphy; and

WHEREAS, she spent her childhood and formative years as a young woman attending the Gainesville City Schools before going to Shorter College; and

WHEREAS, this vivacious lady enveloped others with her warm sense of humor, personable spirit, disposition, and fondness for people and used these traits to become a successful real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Real Estate, where she worked for 16 years; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Ellison was a dedicated and vigilant homemaker, and she took great pride in caring for her family; and

WHEREAS, she was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville and an esteemed member of the Gainesville Junior League; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Ellison was a devoted wife to her husband and a loving mother to three children; she is also survived by her five grandchildren and her twin sister, Marlene Murphy Sanders; and

WHEREAS, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan D. Wagner, and stepfather, William "Bill" Simmons; and
WHEREAS, she had a love for life and brought joy and happiness to all those who came into contact with her through her sweet and loving spirit; and

WHEREAS, she was a remarkable lady filled with much strength of character and grace, and she will long be remembered in the hearts of those who loved her dearly.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body honor and remember the great life and spirit and many wonderful attributes of Mrs. Marilyn Murphy Ellison and express their sincerest and deepest condolences to her family.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mrs. Marilyn Murphy Ellison.
